Aaron L. Speer

Welcome to my interview with Aaron L. Speer. A little history on the friendship Aaron and I have developed over the past two years. Speerzie, as he is often called, did a group takeover in July of 2018 while I was away on my annual roadtrip. I called the event ‘While The Redhead’s Away, The Authors Will Play’. This meant I missed his playtime while I was hiking and traveling around the western half of the United States.

Shortly after that event, Aaron started popping up, joining in on the random posts, most often when Red was oversharing, especially on the infamous WMD post. His comment about needing a mouth guard when using the huge Hitachi Magic Wand cracked me up. We’ve become friends and chat often.

I’m excited to sit down and get to know this Aussie author a little better. *Warning* My nickname for him is McPervy. I have no idea what’s going to come out of his mouth.

Hi Aaron. Thanks for popping in for this interview. You know I’m a fan already. Getting the chance to share you with everyone is exciting and scary all wrapped in a crazy package. I think I’m ready for this, lol. Let’s get started.

What genre do you write?
Aaron: Romance in your pants
Red: Alrighty then. We are starting out with a bang. I see how this is going to go. Maybe I should add a parent advisory to the warning from above. LOL

When did you start writing ?
Aaron: When I picked up a pen.
Red: Such a smart ass, but I wouldn’t have you any other way.

Do you have a favorite book that you have written?
Aaron: Night Walker was my first book that I personally published. It will always hold a special place in my heart, though I have written better stories in the series.
Red: Night Walker was recommended to me and I finally took the leap into your PNR world. Love it and 1 clicked book 2 immediately. (Click Here for my Review)

How about a favorite character from your books?
Aaron: My favourite character to write is Lee Nightingale, as he gives me the most attitude.
Red: I’ve met Lee a few times, but haven’t read his book yet. It’s sitting on my Kindle just waiting for a quiet night of non-stop reading.

Do you have a specific way you choose the characters names?
Aaron: I simply go through the A to Z of names depending on the sex, and pick one that stands out. I usually name a new character before anything else.
Red: I’ve recently found out how hard names are to choose. Baby name sites are fabulous.

What is your favorite part of being a published author?
Aaron: Being interviewed:-) and meeting fans
Red: <Blushing>

Where is the strangest place you had a book or character idea come to you?
Aaron: Um….having sex.
Red: And there it is again. You kill me.

I am sure you don’t sit with a timer but if you had to guess how long does it take for you to write a book?
Aaron: 4 to 5 months.

Do you read your book reviews? How do you deal with bad or good ones?
Aaron: Absolutely. I read and share them all. Bad reviews hurt. Everyone who gets one knows it. But they are a part of the deal. And to coin a phrase from Godfather 2, “this is the business we’ve chosen.” I’ll read them, then ask one of my trusted peeps their thoughts on the points raised. What I take out of them etc. Ultimately it’s a pride swallowing exercise BUT there’s every chance something in each can make me a better writer. So to that end, bring em on.
Red: I’m with you on that. I love all of the feedback I can get. How else to we get a feel for what readers of all types are thinking about your book?

What do you do what you suffer from writerโ€™s block?
Aaron: Listen to music! The more epic the better.

Which of your books do you wish more readers were aware of?
Aaron: Unbroken!
Red: I agree. I’m not going to fangirl too much over this book, but let me add that this story of a strong willed, determined woman, diving into the MMA cage head first stole my heart. (Click here to read my review)

Did you have a mentor when you started?
Aaron: No. But I’ve learned from plenty after I started, of both what to and not to do.
Red: Let me take this moment to thank you for your support as a blogger and new author. You talked me down from a few stressful moments and I’m grateful for your help.

What can we expect from you in the future?
Aaron: Question 14
Red: <Facepalm> Umm, Bad Dad Joke. Just sayin’

Do you read? Yes? Tell me more. Favorite author/book. Who would you love to meet? Who do you recommend we start reading?
Aaron: Not as much as should. I’m terrified to be accused of stealing anyone’s idea. My fav authors were always Roald Dahl, Mario Puzo, JK Rowling, Bram Stoker. Any one of those will net you a great time.

What is your favorite Dessert?
Aaron: Chocolate sauce smothered vanilla ice cream.
Red: Something tells me you don’t like to share, but I’ll have to ask that another time.

Most embarrassing moment?
Aaron: Haven’t had one yet…key word yet.
Red: Well you’re lucky. I have at least one a day. You get used to it after awhile.

Tell us something fun. Anything that can make us smile or giggle. Life is too short, lets spread some smiles around.
Aaron:
Life is a waste of time
Time is a waste of life
Get wasted all the time
You’ll have the time of your life

Thank you for taking time to chat with me and share a little about you and your writing. I know this isn’t goodbye since deep down, you can’t resists this Redhead. Keep writing and we’ll keep reading. ~Red xoxo
