Red’s Review: ‘I Just Can’t Help Believin’…: Conspiracy Theory Book One – Elvis Presley’.

‘I Just Can’t Help Believin’…: Conspiracy Theory

Book One – Elvis Presley’.

by Lee Beckett

Are you a fan of ‘The King’?

Were you left with a gaping hole in your heart when you heard the news Elvis Presley had passed, but secretly prayed it was all a hoax?

Do you believe the one and only, true King of Rock and Roll is alive?

Could he really deceive the world and stay hidden for over forty years, fooling us all?

And why would he go to such lengths to hide from the world full of adoring fans, leaving money and fame by the wayside?

I’ve asked myself these questions many times over the years. I was seven when Elvis passed away. Although young, I was like many fans who cried with the news of Elvis’s death. I remember the layers of flowers and photographs of mourners lined up to view the open casket at Graceland.

I was fortunate to recently read the upcoming release of Lee Beckett’s debut book;
‘I Just Can’t Help Believin’…: Conspiracy Theory Book One – Elvis Presley’.

While turning the pages, I was brought back to my memories of Elvis and the circumstances behind his sudden passing. Lee Beckett has opened the door to the possibility that Elvis did indeed fake his own death and what the motivation may have been behind the deception.

The enjoyment I received while stepping back in time reading about Elvis’s life brought a smile to my face. That’s probably odd for you to hear as we are talking about Elvis’s death, but I’m a fan of the legend and his music, therefore reading his life story is entertaining to me.

Starting with a bit of known background, mixed with details of Presley’s  life I was unaware of, left little cracks in the hard set line that Elvis Aron Presley died on August 16, 1977. The way Lee Beckett has laid out the facts and possibility of Elvis being alive, allows the reader to come to their own conclusion.

I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but I love to look at things from all angles and will listen when someone points out what they believe to be evidence supporting their beliefs. It intrigues me to hear the maybe and what if or perhaps it went this way. Sort of like the classic board game Clue, if this happened, then it must be Colon Mustard, with the candlestick in the conservatory. For me it was always the candlestick. My point being, listening to these conspiracy theories is fun. Add in Elvis Presley and I was hooked.

Will the mystery behind Elvis Presley’s death or disappearance ever be revealed? I don’t know the answer to that, but I can say this book has me wanting to do some investigating of my own.

Lee Beckett has written a book which is entertaining, thought provoking and one I recommend everyone read.

I Just Can’t Help Believin’…:

Conspiracy Theory Book One – Elvis Presley

Blurb;
When paramedics, Ulysses Jones and Charles Crosby, were called to Graceland, the home of Elvis Presley, the King of Rock and roll, they didn’t know what to expect.

After being directed upstairs by a bodyguard, they found a man lying on the bathroom floor, surrounded by a group of people. Elvis’s girlfriend, Ginger Alden, as well as his road manager and close friend, Joe Esposito, were amongst them.

The man lay on his back with pajama bottoms down around his knees and his top open exposing dark blue, almost black, folds of cold flesh.

Jones immediately dropped to his knees to check for signs of life—he found none.

Afterwards, both paramedics would tell their captain they didn’t recognize the man as Elvis. In actual fact, they went as far as to say the dead man definitely wasn’t Elvis. They were warned to keep that information to themselves.

This was the beginning of the conspiracy theories that have spanned decades.

Reds Review:

I’ve had the honor of following Luna Lopez from the beginning. Starting with her debut novella, First Kiss. Her debut was just a taste of the spectacular writing she has unleashed with her new full length novel, Where My Heart Lies.

Blogging has given me the opportunity to step outside of my self-imposed reading boundaries. Luna’s stories of lesbian relationships have introduced me to a romance genre I would never have searched out on my own. (more…)
